Gizaw moved to Charlotte from Egypt in 2019 with his wife and 4-year-old son. They needed to find work – but the programs they were finding were expensive. Then, they heard about Goodwill, and Gizaw enrolled in our IT program in a Qualitative Analytics (QA) class. He not only gained hands-on experience in live projects, but also resume and interviewing support, and insights on the workplace from IT professionals.
He accepted a QA job with Wells Fargo before he even finished the class. Then, Gizaw’s project was ended due to COVID-19. It wrapped up on a Friday, but due to his dedication, skill set and a glowing recommendation from his manager, he started in a brand new role with Wells Fargo the very next Monday! His new IT career has been able to sustain his family during this difficult time. Here’s what that means to him, in his own words.
