As we continue rolling out Shopify and training our team, we appreciate your patience during this transition – and we’re here to help every step of the way. If you haven’t already, you can also create an account ahead of your next visit to make checkout even faster.

While the technology is new, our commitment to our mission hasn’t changed. Every purchase you make supports programs and services that strengthen our community. Explore the FAQs below to learn what this means for your next visit.

Accounts & Shopify Access

: A Shopify account is not required to shop at Goodwill. However, a Shopify account is required in order to complete returns or exchanges and to take advantage of select promotions, including Senior Tuesday and the quarterly Veteran and Military Sale.
: You can sign up by providing your phone number and/or email address at checkout in-store, or by visiting this link.
: ID is typically not required to create an account. In some cases, the cashier may request it to help confirm spelling or ensure accuracy. However, a valid ID will be required to redeem certain promotions, such as Senior Tuesday and the quarterly Veteran and Military Sale.
: If you did not sign up directly through Goodwill, your email may already be linked to a Shop account. When you use a payment method associated with an existing Shop account, the email tied to that account may be automatically connected.
: No, Shopify is not a loyalty program and does not offer points at this time. It is our checkout system, designed to make your shopping experience faster and more convenient. However, having an account allows you to access select promotions like Senior Tuesday and the quarterly Veteran and Military Sale.

Store Credit & Gift Cards

: No, all refunds are issued as store credit only. You can find our full return policy here.
: Yes, we will continue to accept older Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont gift cards in-store. In rare cases where a card does not work, a team member will contact our IT department to transfer the balance to your account.
: You can visit any Goodwill store in our region, and a team member will assist you in checking your balance. If your email is linked to the account you use when shopping in-store, you can also view your available store credit (excluding gift cards) by signing into your account on our online store.
: Physical gift cards with store credit can be redeemed at checkout. Once redeemed, the physical gift card is no longer needed as future store credit will be tied to your account.
: If you notice an issue with your receipt or account balance, our store team is happy to help. Please visit the store where your purchase was made and ask to speak with a manager, or call the store directly using our store directory. A manager will review the transaction and work with you to resolve the issue. In rare cases where there’s an issue accessing your balance, the manager will work with our IT department to resolve it.

Purchases, Receipts, & Messages

: You should only receive an emailed receipt if you choose that option during checkout. This can happen if you select “email” yourself or if the cashier asks how you’d like your receipt and you choose email. If you prefer not to receive emailed receipts, simply select the printed receipt option at checkout. If you receive a marketing email by accident, you can unsubscribe or let us know and we will opt you out.
: Visit any Goodwill store in our region, and a cashier can update your customer profile, including your name, phone number, and email address.
: If you notice an issue with your receipt or account balance, our store team is happy to help. Please visit the store where your purchase was made and ask to speak with a manager, or call the store directly using our store directory. A manager will review the transaction and work with you to resolve the issue. In rare cases where there’s an issue accessing your transaction, the manager will work with our IT department to resolve it.
