Goodwill’s free HVAC training course is designed to prepare an entry-level candidate for the Commercial HVAC industry, without going through an entire degree program. This 11-week commercial HVAC training class includes an overview of basic electrical safety and HVAC systems. Additional topics include usage of installation tools and techniques, meters and gauges, brazing and soldering, heating technologies, basic copper and plastic piping practices, basic carbon steel piping practices, air distribution systems, understanding symbols and basic schematics, planning and layout, as well as installation of electrical distribution equipment. This course is taught by National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certified instructors.

Course Timeframe

Goodwill’s HVAC training course lasts 11 weeks. We offer this course in the evenings to accommodate students who may work during the day.

Requirements for Completion

To successfully complete Goodwill’s HVAC training course, you must:

  • Have at least an 85% attendance rate
  • Achieve a passing score (70%) on all module tests
  • Pass the Performance Profile tests for each module

Certification Opportunities

If you successfully complete Goodwill’s free Commercial HVAC training course, you will receive the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) certification for HVAC Level 1.

Prerequisite

In order to enroll in Goodwill’s HVAC training course, you must first successfully complete Goodwill’s Construction Basics training course and obtain the NCCER CORE Certification.

As a participant in one of Goodwill’s intensive training programs, you will be paired with a Career Navigator who will provide comprehensive and accelerated services to prepare you to advance and leverage career readiness and essential skills. They will provide ongoing career coaching activities such as resume development, elevator pitch, mock interviews and more. As you near completion of your training course, you will be connected with a member of the Employer Engagement Team for employment assistance. The Employer Engagement team partners with employers to facilitate employer led trainings, site tours, hiring events, and direct placements into high-paying industry related employment opportunities.As a participant in one of Goodwill’s training courses, you’ll have access to a Career Navigator who can help you with your resume and interview skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with our Employer Engagement Team, who can help you find and secure employment.
