If you’re like me, you are avoiding shopping malls at all costs this month. Not only do the crowds make me claustrophobic, but the prices are breathtaking – and not in a good way.
The holidays are expensive! But it’s not just purchasing the perfect gifts for friends and family – when you add in a tree, decorations, holiday parties, cards and other obligations, it’s easy to see how holiday cheer can quickly become holiday fear.
This week, WBTV’s Maureen O’Boyle showcased one way to help ease holiday stress in her Stretching Your Dollar segment. “If you’ve got invites to holiday parties, but your budget doesn’t have room for new clothes, don’t miss the fun!,” she said.
What’s Maureen’s secret? Goodwill!
She met some shoppers at our South Blvd. location who picked out little black dresses (LBDs) that would be perfect for a holiday or New Year’s Eve party. Then, she went to our Sardis Road location and found FIVE dresses for herself, all for under $50.
“While it’s not a lot of money, remember that every penny you spend at Goodwill makes a difference in someone’s life,” Maureen reminds us. “It’s the perfect way to get what you need and give back this holiday season.”
