Halloween is just a few days away, which means it’s past time to start thinking about costumes! I’ve always been in favor of making my own costumes versus buying one from one of those seasonal pop-up shops. When it’s handmade, you end up with something original, with lots of money leftover in your pocket. Don’t get sucked into last-minute deals – there is still plenty of time to put together a great costume.
Stop by Goodwill this week for homemade costume supplies so that you can stockpile items for your costume. Use your imagination as you shop to see what ordinary object could be made into something for the season.
This year, the Martha Stewart website was full of hoodie-inspired costume ideas for kids, which would be perfect for the crafty costume designing parent. Just shop for the appropriate colored hoodie at Goodwill, and then find the few other supplies to finish off the look. Here are a few of the ideas and instructions from the Martha Stewart website. You can also use these to inspire your own looks!
