Styled by Stacee: An Insider’s Guide to Festival Fashion

If your spring and summer plans include the Charlotte SHOUT! festival, the Untappd Beer Festival, the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, Speed Street or any number of outdoor events and concerts in our region, Goodwill has got you covered with looks for festivals of all kinds!

We stopped by our University Pointe store with our friend and fashion insider Stacee Michelle to find stylish looks for every event on your calendar.

P.S. If you like these looks, you’re in for a treat. We’re partnering with our pal Stacee to curate fashionable finds from a different Goodwill store every month for you to purchase! At noon on the first Friday of each month, a rack of clothes that were “Styled by Stacee” will be released in a Goodwill store so you can bring some of Stacee’s style inspiration to your own wardrobe. The May “Styled by Stacee” rack featuring festival looks will be released at the University Pointe store at noon on Friday, May 3!

Stacee shopped for this month’s curated finds with these four key style tips in mind:

1. Lay on the Layers: You’ll want to wear layers for those cool spring nights so when the temperature dips, your style doesn’t have to! Whether it’s chambray over a dress, lace over a graphic tee or a vest on a tank, don’t be afraid to mix and match prints and textures to add some interest to your festival look. Stacee found this long, bold, patterned vest to layer over a crochet-lined tank. What’s even better? The vest can come off to create a makeshift blanket for your outdoor event. Stacee brought some Woodstock vibes to this look with bell-bottom jeans and a wide-brim hat to match.

  • Vest: LulaRoe – $3.99
  • Tank: Spoiled – $3.99
  • Jeans: Free People – $5.99
  • Hat: Rampage – $0.99
  • Shoes: Universal Thread – $4.99

2. Keep Cool in Cotton: Midi length dresses are all the rage. Stacee passed over the polyester in favor of this cotton tank dress that won’t trap in heat. Add some rocker-chic leather accessories like these lace-up combat boots and Chanel-inspired quilted baseball hat. There’s no denying fanny packs are a smart choice to keep all your essentials safe and out of the way – find one in a matching material like Stacee did or go neon to pay homage to the ‘90s.

  • Dress: Paint and Cloth – $3.99
  • Shirt: Mossimo – $3.99
  • Hat: K.I.T. – $0.99
  • Booties: White Mountain – $4.99
  • Fanny Pack: $4.99

3. Find Smart Accessories: When you’re headed to a festival, chances are you’ll be outside. Stacee picked this jewel-tone, wide-brim hat that’s not only on trend, but also will keep your face and neck shaded. She paired it with cool, white cotton shorts and a cheeky graphic tee – with a flowy linen button-down that can protect you from the sun and still keep you cool. Add in a pair of all-weather booties and an earth-tone bandana around your neck to complete this desert-chic festival look.

  • Shirt: Universal Thread – $3.99
  • T-shirt: JNCO85 – $2.99
  • Shorts: Levi’s – $3.99
  • Booties: Mossimo – $4.99
  • Hat: Rampage – $0.99

4. Look for Lace & Crochet: Whether it’s a country concert at PNC Arena or Speed Street in Uptown, lace and crochet will add a feminine touch to your outfit, while these breathable fabrics keep you cool. Stacee found this long lace shirtdress and taught us how to tie it in the front to let your distressed denim and comfy tee peek through. Pair it with some cowboy boots and a boho crossbody to keep your arms free to dance along to your favorite song.

  • T-shirt: Reflex – $2.99
  • Lace Shirtdress: Say What? – $5.99
  • Shorts: Wallflower – $3.99
  • Boots: Nocona – $4.99
  • Purse: $4.99
