The Charlotte region is home to more than 91,000 financial services jobs, and it is the second-largest banking center in the nation. Uncover your path to a promising career in this growing industry through BankWork$. Goodwill University is excited to offer a free, eight-week banking training program that will give you the skills, access and coaching you need to succeed and grow in banking careers—from understanding the financial services workplace to bank regulations, bank products, cash handling and processing customer transactions. Participants are also offered a $15/hour stipend through the duration of the course to support them on their journey toward a new career.

Graduates of this banking training course are prepared for roles such as: Associate Banker, Branch Banker, Client Services Representative, Lead Teller, Member Service Consultant, Personal Banker, Relationship Banker, Teller and Call Center Representative.

Course Timeframe and Details

The BankWork$ training course lasts eight weeks. This is a hybrid (virtual and in-person at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus) training course. Class will meet Monday – Wednesday for six-hour daytime classes. Professional business attire is required during all at-home and in-person classes and events, and participants will receive a stipend of $15/hour while in class.

Prerequisites

In order to apply to the BankWork$ banking training course, you must pass a reading and math comprehension assessment and go through an Interview & Selection process. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school degree/GED and be able to pass a background check.

Required Technology

  • Wi-Fi for internet access
  • A computer or laptop for home use (a cell phone is not sufficient to access course materials)

    Launch Your Career

    As a participant in one of Goodwill’s intensive training programs, you will be paired with a Career Navigator who will provide comprehensive and accelerated services to prepare you to advance and leverage career readiness and essential skills. They will provide ongoing career coaching activities such as resume development, elevator pitch, mock interviews and more. As you near completion of your training course, you will be connected with a member of the Employer Engagement Team for employment assistance. The Employer Engagement team partners with employers to facilitate employer led trainings, site tours, hiring events, and direct placements into high-paying industry related employment opportunities.
