Volunteers help make careers

Last week, 13 volunteers from United Way of Central Carolinas’ Young Leaders Program spent the morning at our Career Development Center, offering resume preparation and interviewing skills to students in our Occupational Skills Training programs.

The event was organized by United Way volunteer Keith Taylor, financial strategist at Centerpoint Associates, and gave our students another chance to practice the skills they’ve been learning in the classroom.

“I have been leading this event for the past three years,” said Taylor. “It’s been a great experience. I’ve seen a lot of confidence in the people I’ve met today.”

The next graduation ceremony for our Occupational Skills Training program is coming up on June 24 at the Carole A. Hoefener Center; we’re sure the time our new graduates spent with these United Way volunteers will be a big help on their post-Goodwill job searches.

Many thanks to United Way Young Leaders for their support!
