Kilby Watson

Community Engagement Manager

Kilby Watson joined Goodwill in 2011. During her first year she spearheaded the development of the Champions for Good volunteer and internship program at Goodwill. As the Community Engagement Manager, Kilby continues to oversee the Champions for Good program, leads events and outreach efforts, oversees stakeholder engagement, tours at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus and Goodwill’s Speakers Bureau. 

Prior to her work at Goodwill, Kilby engaged in a variety of projects and communication efforts at Vandever Batten, a consulting firm whose mission was to provide consultative support to nonprofits. Her talents for research, office management and streamlining systems successfully enhanced the efficiencies and external communication efforts at the firm. While at Vandever Batten she taught an Organizational Communication course for the undergraduate students at Queens University of Charlotte and Public Speaking courses at Central Piedmont Community College.

Kilby has been deeply involved in education and development since 1996, serving seven years as a high school English, Speech and Drama teacher and five years as a staff member on the collegiate level. She has a Master’s in Organizational Communication from Queens University of Charlotte and actively engages in efforts that help spur positive change, raise awareness and increase opportunities in our community.

Kilby continues to serve individuals and the Charlotte community as a leadership coach who received her training from Presence-Based® Coaching, an advisory board member of the Women’s Inter-Cultural Exchange and a member of UNC-Charlotte’s Employer Advisory Board.
