Like many in our community, Chris Olatuberu experienced a lot of change this year. Chris recently moved to Charlotte from Nigeria, and while he had a background in business, it was difficult to apply his previous experience to work here. Despite the change and uncertainty, Chris was able to count on Goodwill. Chris is currently taking one of our IT courses to become certified in A+ Helpdesk. This training course will help Chris achieve his dream career in technology and help him support his growing family – his daughter, Janelle, was just born in October.
Financial contributions from the community help Chris and his peers on their path. Funding supports innovations to align training with skills employers are looking for and provides career development assistance that directly helps people achieve their goals. In fact, the coaching and skills Chris received at Goodwill helped him find a job at Amazon so he could support his family while he takes the IT class.
