Work with Purpose: Insights from our Talent Acquisition Team

Now more than ever, people are seeking work where they feel supported, see clear opportunities to grow and know their work makes a difference. To better understand what makes working at Goodwill different, we asked our Talent Acquisition team to share their perspective. Every day, they connect with job seekers, listen to their questions, concerns, goals and help them take the next step in their careers.
Purpose That Extends Beyond the Job
Janelle, Talent Acquisition Specialist, shared, “When you work for Goodwill, it’s bigger than you. It’s supporting your community. All of your efforts help fund community programs and services.”
At Goodwill, your work directly fuels opportunity. Revenue from donated goods and financial contributions fund tuition-free services for the community, including Construction & Trade Skills training programs, job search support, team member development services and more! In 2025 alone, Goodwill served more than 8,500 individuals across the Charlotte region, helping them gain the tools and confidence needed to pursue the life they want to achieve.
A Workplace Where Everyone Belongs
Chip, Talent Acquisition Director, said, “Goodwill is a great place to work because we have a dynamic and diverse workforce. A place for everyone to be their authentic self while driving our mission.”
Goodwill is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone belongs. Through year-round cultural celebrations and DEIB-led initiatives, the organization creates spaces where team members feel valued and supported, strengthening both its culture and the communities it serves.
Clear Growth Opportunities
Doris, Talent Acquisition Specialist, shared, “At Goodwill, there’s growth, career pathways, and work-life balance.”
Our team members are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why Goodwill invests in professional growth and well-being through training, personalized coaching, and flexible pathways forward. Team members have access to free career development courses and eight hours of paid development time each year. For those ready to take the next step, the Pathways Program offers individualized career coaching and a customized action plan. Helping participants, like Graham and Jessica gain clarity, confidence and momentum, whether their future is with Goodwill or beyond.
Leadership and Support You Can Feel
Ryan, Talent Acquisition Specialist, shared, “It’s a family-type atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and willing to help, creating a relationship-driven environment.”
Strong, healthy relationships are foundational at Goodwill. We invest in our leaders through ongoing learning and development opportunities such as our annual L.E.A.D. Conference. These experiences strengthen leadership skills and create space for leaders to reflect, recharge, and better support their teams.
That commitment to support extends beyond leadership and into the everyday lives of our team members. Through our Family Stability team, employees can access confidential, compassionate assistance for immediate needs such as health care, transportation, food or housing. By helping reduce real-life challenges, Goodwill creates space for team members to focus on their work, invest in meaningful relationships and move forward with greater confidence.
