Attention, art lovers! Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and the Charlotte Art League have teamed up to present a special exhibit this March, featuring artwork by Employment Skills Training students, many of whom have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join us for a free community reception to kick off the sixth annual “Color My Dreams” exhibit this Friday, March 1 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Art League Gallery (1517 Camden Road). 
Goodwill’s Employment Skills Training program provides 12 to 24 months of job skills training to help individuals with disabilities gain and keep competitive employment. The art exhibit is the culmination of a yearlong series of art classes in various fine arts media taught by Charlotte Art League volunteers. More than 100 pieces of art—including painting, design, mixed media and photography—will be on display and available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of artworks directly benefit the artists. “March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and we are honored to showcase the contributions of this diverse segment of the population,” said Diane Weekley, director of vocational services for Goodwill. The “Color My Dreams” exhibit will be on display March 1-29. Gallery hours are: Tuesday – Thursday 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Friday 1:00-8:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; and Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. Closed Mondays.
