If you’re still trying to decide what to be for Halloween this year, look no further than Goodwill. You’ll find everything you need to create a one-of-a-kind look that will stand out from the crowd (and hopefully get more treats!)
Thrift stores are a treasure trove for do-it-yourself projects, and at Goodwill, not only will you find affordable items, but your purchase will help provide job training services to people our own community. Below are some costume ideas you can implement using items from Goodwill. Find the store nearest you by visiting www.goodwillsp.org and entering your zip code.
Crayon: Find a solid color sweat suit. Use puffy paint or a magic marker to print the word “Crayon” in large black letters down the length of your body. Create a pointed hat using construction paper that matches your sweat suit. You can even paint your face to match.
Witch: Find black pants, a shirt or a dress. Look out for a witch’s hat. Also keep your eye out for a broom at the store. Finish the look with some face paint!
Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen and a host of other Hunger Games characters are a fantastic option for Halloween – all you need are some combat boots, a bow and (play) arrows, cargo pants and a braid!
Raining Cats and Dogs: We love this idea from Parenting – just grab an umbrella, rain boots and a rain jacket, then cut out shapes of cats and dogs and put them all over the umbrella. So cute (and practical)!
Vampire: Vampires are all the rage now. To get in on this trend, find a pair of black pants, a white button-down shirt and a cape, or any black dress (it’s best to make it look a little ratty!). Find white and red makeup for your face – the deader the better!
