Goodwill Construction Services Client Surprised with “Good Deed” from WCNC-TV

We’ve been partnering with WCNC-TV (NBC Charlotte) for another year of surprise “good deeds” for several of our deserving clients at Goodwill.

Our third story features Ernesto, a client working in a transitional position with Goodwill Construction Services after graduating from our six-week construction skills training program. Ernesto has faced many hardships in his life, including the loss of his oldest son to cancer, and trying to find a job with a criminal background isn’t easy.

Ernesto never gave up on improving his life, and he even recently purchased his own car. You can read Ernesto’s full success story on our blog here.

Ernesto was surprised by Colleen Odegaard, co-host of WCNC-TV’s show Charlotte Today, in our construction lab at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus with a $100 gift card to Food Lion. You can watch his surprise on YouTube or in the video below.

And be sure to check out the first two “good deed” stories on our blog!

  • Christian – a student in our CLAY (Career Leadership Academy for Youth) program – was surprised with a laptop and printer from our electronics store, The GRID: Powered by Goodwill, as he prepared to head to college this fall.
  • KeShawn – also a student in our CLAY program – has a passion for broadcasting and video production, and was surprised with a behind-the-scenes job shadow at WCNC-TV…including the opportunity to appear LIVE on Charlotte Today!

Stay tuned as we surprise more of our hardworking clients with the “good deeds” they’ve earned.
