Girl Scouts, Charlotte Junior Chamber Organize Electronics Drives
A local Girl Scouts’ member and the Charlotte Junior Chamber are organizing electronics donation drives in their communities aimed at keeping potentially hazardous materials out of local landfills. The Goodwill drives will be held on two upcoming Saturdays – August 28 at the intersection of Rea Road and Tom Short Road, and September 18 at the Park Road Shopping Center in Charlotte. Read more
Goodwill, Family Circle Launch Back-To-School Clothing Drive
For the second year in a row, Goodwill organizations across the country and Family Circle are teaming up for the Back-to-School Clothing Drive. The goal of the drive is to encourage families to donate their gently-used clothing to help support Goodwill’s job training and employment programs, which ultimately helps individuals become financially stable and support their families. 20th Anniversary Of Americans With Disability Act Commemorated
For decades, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont along with Goodwill agencies across the country have helped people with disabilities find employment, become independent and support themselves and their families. Since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990, it has helped increase access to goods and services, such as employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and prohibit employment discrimination. Carolina Panthers Donate Stadium TVs To Goodwill
The Carolina Panthers donated 175 working televisions and eight touch-screen kiosks to Goodwill. The televisions and kiosks – valued at more than $10,000 – were used throughout Bank of America Stadium and by the team’s coaching staff. Read more
